When you contact us to learn if you are eligible for individual advocacy assistance from the Wisconsin Coalition for Advocacy:
- An Intake Specialist will ask you to describe the help you need or the help needed by a family member or the person for whom you are a guardian or advocate;
- If you are eligible for assistance and your request fits our priority issues, one of our advocates will contact you to discuss your situation further;
- Individual assistance could include: guiding you in self advocacy skills; investigating, negotiating or mediating on your behalf; and/or, on a limited basis, representing you in legal proceedings;
- WCA does not provide advocacy or legal assistance with bankruptcies, traffic ticket cases, criminal cases or family law issues having to do with child custody, child support or divorce;
- If we cannot provide the help you need, WCA staff will refer you to other more appropriate resources.
