WCA works throughout the state with individual consumers, their families, human service and other professionals, and policymakers who make and implement decisions on disability rights. The skilled advocates, attorneys and consultants of WCA bring professional as well as personal experience in issues of disability rights to their work. The committed individuals who serve on the WCA Board of Directors include people with disabilities, family members and other community representatives. WCA is part of a national system of independent protection and advocacy agencies established by the United States Congress in the 1970s to safeguard the rights of people with disabilities. WCA receives funding from federal and state grants, training fees and private donations.
